We kicked off the new Adventure: The Dragonsbane Mask campaign. This is the offshoot of the Random Encounter Meet-Up group that got too large to make a viable D&D group. There were six of us at the table and that’s about as big as a D&D party should be. Six players and one DM is doable, four players and one DM is ideal, but five players is just fine for this DM.
We talked about Tyranny of Dragons, what the plan is, and where it might go. There was a handout to get everyone on the same page and answer some common questions.

We did all the session zero things, went over the basics of the Realms of Adventure and the continent of Marsilon, made characters and set off on an adventure to explore a haunted house.
Our handful of heroes will consist of the following adventure seekers:
Chasza the Saurial, lizardfolk ranger
Claudius Lyander, human artificer
Haden Roughstone, human cleric of Ephara and templar of the Pantheon
Kresh the Nyxborn, tiefling paladin
Quinn Kai, human monk from the lands of Olde World
They found themselves in the small town of Ojai (pop. 760). How did they meet? Why are they together? That was left to the players and so, we have no idea. They just are. The group was approached by the town Castellan, Escobert the Red, and asked if they would be willing to check out a house in the foothills that has recently been the source of some strange lights and occurrences. It was as good a starter adventure as they could ask for and they headed up into the foothills.
They found a ruined mansion with new locks on the doors. A secret door in the floor of the parlor led to a basement that was being used as a barracks of sorts. They found purple robes marked with the heraldry of a gold dragon and papers that indicated an upcoming raid on Ojai. Also, a door marked ‘Danger’ in fresh red paint and barred from opening. They opened the door and found several animated skeletons waiting to drag them into The Underworld. There was a fight. The adventurers were victorious. And then a kobold stuck it’s head out of the wall, saw them, and ran off.
That’s where we left it. What will the adventurers do? I guess we’ll find out next time.
